6th Grade RotationRotation Syllabus - 2018 - 2019 School Year
The purpose of this class is to provide students with basic information literacy skills and program knowledge, as well as access to resources and programs that will enhance their experiences with curriculum in other classes for their years at Foothill. We will also be working on the fundamentals of programming for robotics. This class will last for approximately nine weeks, until the end of the quarter. |
Design and modeling
PLTW Syllabus - 2018 - 2019 School Year
Our module on energy efficiency is broken into four units; design process, measurement, sketching and dimensions, designing for production. We will first look at what the design process is and how we make decisions. Measurement is key in producing a correct and useful design. Sketching and dimensions allows us to communicate our ideas through clear and concise images. Finally when we enter the designing for production we build on the skills we have developed in order produce 3-D models based on 2-D images. Class Resources |
Flight and spacePLTW Syllabus - 2018 - 2019 School Year
The study of aerospace engineering would not be complete without a basic understanding of the history of aerospace. Many students think that the space shuttle can go to the moon. Some even think people have been to the planet Mars. These misconceptions are often the result of watching science fiction movies or television programs that look real to students. In this lesson students will be introduced to the history of flight through hands-on activities, research, and a presentation in the form of an infomercial. By having the entire class experience the flight characteristics of various vehicles, explore the differences between aircraft and rockets, research their respective histories, and view each other’s infomercial productions, each student will gain a greater understanding of the evolution of flight. |
medical DetectivesStudents play the role of real-life medical detectives as they analyze genetic testing results to diagnose disease and study DNA evidence found at a “crime scene.” They solve medical mysteries through hands-on projects and labs, investigate how to measure and interpret vital signs, and learn how the systems of the human body work together to maintain health.
